Hermann Simon has been active in many areas of both management theory and practice. Concepts such as price management, hidden champions, “servicewüste” (total lack of acceptable services) and investor marketing have been introduced by him. In this interview, Hermann Simon will share with us the different perspectives and learnings he has collected from little known global market leaders, the widespread focus on volume and market share and his push for a shift towards profit focused strategy. Simon will discuss ways to boost profitability through individualized pricing and other critical profitability issues for today’s challenging times.

Hermann Simon

Hermann Simon, Founder, Honorary Chairman and former CEO of Simon-Kucher & Partners, is an expert in strategy, marketing and pricing. Professor Simon has published over 35 books in 27 languages, including the worldwide bestsellers Hidden Champions, Confessions of the Pricing Man and the textbook Price Management. His autobiography “Many Worlds, One Life – From Farmhouse to Global Stage” will appear shortly. Simon is also board member of numerous foundations and corporations, former president of the European Marketing Academy (EMAC) and is co-founder of the first Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) listed in Germany, the first search fund in Germany. Simon was professor of business administration and marketing at the Universities of Mainz (1989-1995), Bielefeld (1979-1989), Harvard Business School, Stanford, London Business School, INSEAD, Keio University (Tokyo) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
A native of Germany, Hermann Simon studied economics and business administration at the universities of Bonn (diploma and doctorate) and Cologne. Simon has received numerous international awards and holds honorary doctorates from IEDC Business School of Bled (Slovenia), University of Siegen (Germany) and Kozminski University Warsaw (Poland). He is a honorary professor at the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. He is the only German in the Thinkers50 Hall of Fame. In China, the Hermann Simon Business School is named after him.

Prof. Dr. Peter Lorange is Chairman and CEO of the Lorange Network, which he founded in 2017 to provide business knowledge digitally and a networked community for company owners, entrepreneurial families and larger private investors.

He was formerly owner and President of the Lorange Institute of Business. Prof. Dr. Lorange is a successful entrepreneur and owner of a highly diversified family office with over 25 investment activities, after having sold his shipping company in 2006.

He is also regarded as one of the world's most foremost business school academics.
