About Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal
Birgitte was recently CEO and CFO of Golden Ocean Management AS in Oslo, Norway, the largest listed dry bulk company in the world (NASDAQ and with a secondary listing on the Oslo Stock Exchange). In April 2020, she will join the Statkraft corporate management team as EVP European Wind and Solar. Statkraft is a leading company in hydropower internationally and Europe’s largest generator of renewable energy. The Group produces hydropower, wind power, solar power, gas-fired power and supplies district heating. Birgitte has also held roles in Investments, Commercial Controlling and Financial Analysis at the Torvald Klaveness Group. Prior, Birgitte worked for Norsk Hydro ASA as Structuring Analyst. Her diverse and rich experiences have benefited her multiple board positions at companies such as Seadrill Ltd , Mowi ASA, Sevan Drilling ASA / Sevan Drilling Ltd, KVART Invest AS where she was also owner, and in the Corporate Assembly at Equinor ASA (former Statoil ASA). Additionally, Birgitte sits on the board of Vartdal Fiskeriselskap AS (merged with Kvart).
Birgitte was educated at the Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK, where she received a MSc in Financial Mathematics, and at NTNU, Trondheim. Besides her strong expertise in shipping and trading, physics, mathematics, and risk management, Birgitte has a passion for leadership development and mentoring program for young top leaders. Through her impressive work experience, board seats and also the family’s investments, she has gained experience within shipping and offshore, electricity and commodities, fisheries and wealth management through diverse management disciplines including finance, strategy, and investor relations amongst others.
About Lilla Sølhusvik
The journalist and author Lilla Sølhusvik has worked for many years in NRK, the national public broadcasting company, and the largest media organisation in Norway, where she currently is hosting the news program "Politisk kvarter" about politics and society. Previously, she worked on international affairs in NRK, as Editorial Director for Dagsnytt / Alltid Nyheter and a project manager for investigative journalism in "NRK Brennpunkt". In 2012 she published the critically acclaimed biography of Kristin Halvorsen, a Norwegian socialist politician and former Minister of Finance as well as Minister of Education. Lilla's latest book "Because It's Worth It. Women's Way To The Top of Business" was released in the spring of 2018.
In her book "Because It's Worth It", Lilla covers testimonials and experiences from Maria Moræs Hanssen, Anne Marit Panengstuen, Hilde Tonne, Berit Svendsen (who spoke at Lorange Network's last event in October 2019), Gunvor Ulstein, Margareth Øvrum, Birgitte Ringstad Vartdal, and Kristin Skogen Lund.
